Local Dog Walks

Below are some great local walks, some short, some longer. Some of the fields get very muddy in wet weather so we can point you in the right direction. We have OS maps in the barn, but would highly recommend downloading the OS Map app on your phone, it is beyond brilliant and once you’ve downloaded the right map, you don’t need reception for it to walk. If in doubt please ask Jamie on 07590 063307.

Footpath to Kingsbridge

Nice 25 minute walk across fields and last bit of road to Kingsbridge.
Be careful if cows are in the first field.

Blanksmill Creek

Lovely 35 - 45 minute loop along the shore (keep to right as can get soft). Please note this can only be done at LOW TIDE!! When you get to the gate in the small Bay, you can either loop back across nice grassy fields, or continue down the shoreline towards the estuary.

Snapes Point

This is a great 1 hour loop in all weathers and tides across beautiful fields overlooking the estuary. Free parking in a National Trust car park, you can keep walking to Salocmbe if you’re feeling keen!

Bolberry - Soar Mill Cove

This is a fantastic walk along the coastal path at Bolberry and down to Soar Mill Cove, a stunning secluded beach. It’s pretty hilly on the way back up but very worth it. Nice place to stop for a drink (or lunch) at Oceans Restaurant.

South Sands - Bolthead

This is an epic 1 hour walk along an ancient coastal path where Dartmoor meets the sea. The views are stunning as is the footpath that carves its way through jagged rocks like something out of Lord of the Rings. Lovely place for a drink or lunch/supper is South Sands Hotel.

Salcombe - Gara Rock

Another lovely loop. Take the ferry across to East Portlemouth and follow the coastal path south past Sunny Cove and all the way to Gara Rock Hotel (a fairly spenny pit stop but lovely), then cut back to Mill Bay through fields and woodland. or along the road to Village Farm cafe, a really cracking spot that opened in early 2024.

Bolberry - Hope Cove

Another lovely walk from Bolberry, this time heading north towards Hope Cove and back. Take your pick for pitstops, The Cove or Hope Cove House would be mine!
